We are in late autumn which is the same as early winter. Winters in Michigan are typically not the beautiful images you see on Instagram, landscapes of snow-covered hills and trees, a magical winter wonderland. No, Michigan winters are brown. Dead grass and leafless trees until May, that's really what it's like. Entering my fifth winter, the last one was the exception - it snowed in December and the snow didn't melt until April.
So whatever kind of winter we have coming here in The North, enjoy the last few days of color. The bright reds and golds have muted to russets and subdued yellows, but that makes for a nice picture of sunset on the trees of Old Mission.
