Who doesn't love a new bridge? Lots of people, I suppose. But we have a new one crossing the Boardman River at the Grand Traverse Natural Education Reserve. It is nearing completion with just a few pieces of plywood preventing the masses clamoring to get to the other side of the river from making their dream come true.

Currently, if you wanted to get from the Boardman River Trail on the west side of the river to those on the east side of the river, you had to cross at the bridge on Cass Road. No more!
Look at that Big Beautiful Bridge!

And a trail has been added on the west side of the Boardman River. Just think, only a few years ago, the Sabin Dam was here (before my time in the area) and now we have a trail with water and copious tree trunks.

But a new bridge and a new trail are not the only working being done on the Boardman River Trail. Nope, there is also a new staircase. It seems to have come along nicely and soon, we will be able to walk up the stairs, then down the stairs, all day long. It's going to be an eventful spring 2026 on the BRT.
